Similar to Juncus pallidus, commonly known as the great soft-rush or pale rush, is a species of rush that is native to southern Australia always occurring in water-logged areas or seasonally inundated sites. It is a vigorous, tufted, tussock-forming, rhizomatous perennial herb with culms growing to 90-160 cm in height.
