Eucalyptus globulus subspecies bicostata is a variant of the Tasmanian blue gum. It occurs in the drier western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria and New South Wales. Like Euc. globulus, its rapid growth and adaptability to a range of conditions is responsible for its popularity. It is likely to be more drought tolerant and hardy compared to its southern cousin.
Apart from distinct differences in the fruit capsules, there is little difference in appearance.
