Austrostipa Scabra, or speargrass, is a grass that typically grows to 30-80cm. 

Spear grass is found in all five states, but more commonly in the southern half of Australia.

They have a high tolernce to drought, poor soils and high temperatures.

They grow in association with dry Eucalyptus forests, woodlands, shrublands, low open forests, grasslands and even along coastlines.

This species flowers in spring.
