Otherwise known as kangaroo apple grows naturally in temperate regions of New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania. It forms a large shrub 4 m high by 5 m wide. This shrub has blue to purple flowers, with bright yellow anthers. The flowers show in spring and summer.
The egg-shaped berries, 20-30 mm long, are a bright orange-yellow with a warty appearance when ripe. Only consume fruit when ripe as it is poisonous when unripe.
Fruit can be eaten raw or cooked. Tatse similar to a melon. When cut into you it appears like a tomato with hundreds of seeds inside.
