Atriplex Cinerea is commonly known as grey saltbush or coast saltbush, and belongs to the Amaranthaceae Family.
They are commonly found in sheltered coastal areas and around salt lakes ina nd around WA, SA, Tasmania, Victoria and NSW.
Growing up to a height of 1-2 metres and a width of 2-3 metres, with grey-green leaves.
The male flowers on this plant are purple and on globular clusters, however they look yellow when in bloom.
The female flowers also bloom but more discretely, and appear as two pink tepals.
They flower from September through to March, and fruits from October to January.
This species thrives in coastal areas, and is also considered native however they are neutralised in some parts of Victoria.
You can find these plants in the harshest conditions, as they tolerate high levels of salt, they thrive so well in coastal environments because of numerous adaptations.
Atriplex Cinerea can be used to stabalise soils, prevent erosion and even revegetate risk areas.
